Tartar represents the stone-like formation on the surface of the teeth with a coloring that varies from light yellow to brown and which usually forms due to bad oral hygiene.
It is recommended to get a professional scaling once or twice a year. However, there are also natural remedies which you can try at home to get rid of tartar.
30g of nutshells
200ml of water
What to do:
In a pot, place the nutshells and add the water. Boil the mixture for 20 minutes and after it cools down, strain it and dip your toothbrush in the liquid. Brush your teeth with it for 5 minutes and repeat 3 times a day. In 10 days you should be able to see the plaque dissolving.
Other remedies you can try include:
Salt and baking soda – Mix the 2 in equal parts. Wet your tooth brush and dip it into the mixture. Don’t do this more than once a week or you’ll end up damaging your teeth’s enamel.
Eat apples or hard fruits – If you’re at work and don’t have the possibility to brush your teeth after lunch, eat an apple. It will act as a tooth brush and clean the food deposits.
Rub your teeth with orange peel – orange peel is rich in vitamin C which kills bacteria and prevents tartar formation. It is enough to rub your teeth with the inside of an orange peel before bed, twice or 3 times a week.
Also, to prevent plaque or tartar formation, remember to floss at least once a day. Dental floss is great because it reaches places where the tooth brush can’t, thus effectively closing your daily oral hygiene routine.
